What Is a Slot?

The slot in a computer is the position where a program can run. A graphical representation of the slot is a rectangle (or oval) with a number inside it, indicating the position in which a program can run. The number indicates how many times a particular program can run within the time that a given user has available to execute it.

In games, a slot is a position where a symbol can appear. This can be a single symbol or multiple symbols, and each symbol can occupy a different number of stops on the reels.
