The impacts on biodiversity are significant and varied. Climate changes resulting from global warming affect natural habitats and ecosystems, allowing certain species to disappear while others may thrive. First, increasing temperatures affect animal migration patterns. Many species are forced to move to colder areas to survive. For example, migratory birds are now flying earlier than usual, potentially reconfiguring the ecosystems where they land. This also causes a mismatch with their reproductive cycle which could threaten the survival of the species. Furthermore, global warming causes extreme climate changes such as floods, droughts and storms that impact natural habitats. Forests, grasslands and coral reefs become vulnerable. This habitat destruction results in a decline in species populations, threatening the balance of the ecosystem. Coral bleaching on coral reefs is one clear example where high sea temperatures cause mass coral death, while affecting hundreds of fish species that depend on them. Weather changes also affect plant distribution. Plants that cannot adapt quickly to new conditions may face extinction. For example, many endemic plant species on isolated islands are threatened with extinction due to unpredictable changes in temperature and precipitation. This not only affects the plants themselves, but also other species that depend on them for food and habitat. The impact of global warming is also visible in cold regions such as the Arctic. Melting ice threatens species such as polar bears and penguins, which depend on ice for hunting and shelter. Reducing the ice surface makes it difficult for them to find food, which can lead to a decline in population numbers. Increased levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere also cause a decrease in ocean pH, which has a negative impact on marine organisms, such as shellfish and plankton. This disrupts the food chain and could result in a hunger crisis for animals that depend on these tiny organisms as a food source. Genetic diversity has been threatened by these environmental changes. Smaller populations are more vulnerable to disease and ecosystem instability. This decline in diversity reduces the ability of species to adapt and survive further changes, creating a cycle that is difficult to break. In this context, conservation efforts become increasingly important to protect biodiversity. Policies and initiatives aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions, protecting habitats and encouraging sustainable agricultural practices must be the main focus. Through this approach, we can act collectively to protect the earth’s biological riches and ensure their sustainability for future generations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
Global warming is one of the most pressing issues facing humanity.
