This is called the flop. A fifth community card is then revealed, known as the river. Another round of betting then takes place, with players acting on the strength of their poker hands.<\/p>\n<p>A poker hand can consist of one high card, two pairs or three of a kind. A high card is worth the highest value, a pair is worth two equal cards and three of a kind is worth three identical cards. Poker was first reported to have been played in 1829, with four players betting on the highest poker hand.
