The object of the game is to win the pot (the sum of all bets) by having a high-ranking hand. The game may be played with any number of players, from two to 14; the ideal number is 6.<\/p>\n<p>The game has a variety of rules for determining how cards are dealt and how bets are placed. The rank of a poker hand is determined by its odds, with the highest-ranking hands beating lower-ranking ones. If no hand is won, the pot is split among all players who raised at least once.<\/p>\n<p>Each player starts with a complete set of cards, including their own two personal cards and the five community cards on the table. The dealer then deals a single additional community card called the &#8220;river&#8221; in the center of the table. After the river is dealt, all players have a final opportunity to act on their cards in the same round of betting.<\/p>\n<p>Depending on the rules of your game, you may also be able to exchange or draw replacement cards during or after a betting round. This is typically done when a player believes their current hand is no longer strong enough to compete with another player&#8217;s bet.
